Build a backyard tepee
You will need
- 4 poles, 6-7 ft long
- A couple of old bedsheets
- Rope
- Needle and strong thread
- Plastic sheet or strong dustbinliners
- 1 grown up to supervise
Method
- Find a nice, flat area in the garden.
- Stand the poles in a square at least 6ft apart, with the tops joining in the middle, and tie them together.
- Wrap the sheets tightly around the poles.
-
Secure the sheets to the poles using tape,
staples or drawing pins.
-
Cut a 3ft high slit on one side to make the entrance
(Get a grown up to do this bit!)
- Lay the plastic sheet or binliners on the tepee floor to
stop the damp.
- Lay an extra sheet or blanket over the plastic to make it cosy.
- You're all set for your big overnight adventure!
Tip: If Mum doesn't need the sheets any more, why not use marker pens to decorate the sheets with patterns and pictures of animals and plants - just like the real thing!
